Mandy Farmer honoured as Hotelier of the Year

Dec. 12, 2016, Victoria, BC – Mandy Farmer, president & CEO of Accent Inns, has been recognized as Hotelier of the Year by the Pinnacle Awards, an accolade that recognizes her decades of work within Canada’s tourism industry.

Highlights from Farmer’s career include a commitment to the family-business, innovation through customer promotions and staff programs, rebelling against the ordinary through the creation of the Hotel Zed brand, and support of her local Victoria community and through charities that operate throughout the province.

What Does Accent Inns and the Royal Canadian Navy Have in Common?

Both Accent Inns and the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) have a long history in Victoria; of course the Royal Navy’s is a little longer as they’ve been around since the 1840’s.

Seeing as Ms. Farmer recently received this great honour, I thought it might be a good idea to take a quick look at the history of Maritime Forces Pacific (MARPAC) in Esquimalt, BC. (more…)

CFB Esquimalt Welcomes New Honorary Captain

Today members of Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt were officially introduced to their new Honorary Captain (Navy), local hotelier, Mandy Farmer.

HCapt(N) Farmer met the members of the Base following their “Base Divisions”, a quarterly parade held at the base where honours and awards are handed out, followed by a Town Hall where the Base Commander has the opportunity to speak directly with the sailors, soldiers and aviators of CFB Esquimalt. It’s no joke! Newest Bin 4 Burger Lounge opens at Accent Inns on April 1, 2015

March 25, 2015, Victoria, BC – Bin 4 Burger Lounge has set April 1, 2015 as the opening date for their new location at Accent Inns in Saanich, BC.

Since last year, Bin 4 Burger Lounge owners Dan and Sarah Blackmore and Chef Michael Ringland have worked closely with Accent Inns president and CEO Mandy Farmer, finding common ground in their approach to business and love of good food while developing the new space. Farmer and the Blackmores share a common mindset when it comes to customer experience. The design of the new Bin 4 Burger Lounge took into consideration the needs of visitors, travelling for business or leisure. Extra power outlets are available at the seats in the lounge, which seats up to 30 guests. The bar is larger than the other two Bin 4 locations, providing individual seating for 16 guests, and both the restaurant and outdoor patio can accommodate larger groups of up to 20 guests. (more…)
