We like to say we are not your typical, stuffy hotel chain. Yes, we have modern, clean rooms, but we’ll also tell you where to go (in a good way). For close to 30 years, Accent Inns has been owned and operated by a third generation BC family. In 2008 Mandy Farmer took over the company from her father, Terry and has been putting her own stamp on the company. At each of Accent Inns’ locations guests are taken care of by a professional team of hospitality experts, trained to make each guest feel like they are part of the family. Many of the team have been with the company for over 10 years and the company has built a reputation as a great place to work. The results are spotlessly clean rooms and incredibly comfortable beds, and service that responds to your every need.
We’ll tell you where to go
Accent Inns’ team members are local knowledge experts and are happy to tell guests where to go to get the most out of each destination. They know some of the best local places to shop, dine, and explore with an emphasis on the non-traditional and ‘where the locals go’ places. Employee name tags not only tell guests a team member’s name, but also their favourite activity, sparking conversations that lead to great local experiences (i.e. Mandy Farmer: bike lover, rather than President & CEO).
We don’t skimp on the complimentary soap – or Wi-Fi
Accent Inns wants our guests to feel right at home, and that means great quality free Wi-Fi, parking, local phone calls, air conditioned rooms, complimentary shuttle services, and continental breakfast. When it comes to the winter months, we even offer free cookies and hot chocolate in the lobby to warm guests up and encourage informal gatherings that can also spark great conversations.
We welcome the whole family – including the furry ones
Accent Inns understands that family vacations can be an adventure, especially if everyone is crammed into a small space for an extended period of time. That’s why the hotels offer families who need a little extra room a ‘Family Package’, giving them 50 per cent off an adjoining room plus access to two full bathrooms. It’s not a family holiday without the whole family – so Accent Inns has designated pet rooms available. Guests who stay more than four nights with their pet will have the pet fee waived for the fifth night. Pet nights don’t need to be consecutive and can be accumulated throughout the company’s five locations.
We LOVE bicycles
Accent Inns’ ‘Bike Love’ program makes them one of the bike-friendliest hotel chains in BC. Whether guests are long-distance touring cyclists, mountain bikers, or just bringing their bike on vacation, their bicycles are welcome at every Accent Inn. Guests can ask for a bike-friendly room when they make their reservation. ‘Bike Love’ includes: ground floor rooms making it easier for guests to store their bikes in; a bicycle wash and tuning station with a professional-grade bike stand and advanced tool kit; rags for cleaning their bike after a day’s adventure; and a laundry room in case it’s not just their bike that needs a wash.

Accent Inns has a life -long commitment to supporting a sustainable world. We will continually improve our operations by striving to use eco-friendly products and services, while implementing innovative ideas to reduce our footprint on this earth. A few examples of our sustainable policies include: monitoring our carbon footprint; an in room blue box program for recycling of plastics, newspaper and cardboard and “back of the house” recycling programs addressing glass, bottles, paper, cardboard, etc.; permanent soap/shampoo dispensers in all rooms; and energy efficient lighting in all guest rooms.
We have a rebel in the family… Hotel Zed
How do you take a limited-service motel, built decades ago, and turn it into one BC’s newest and funkiest properties? You rebel against the ordinary. That’s exactly what Mandy Farmer did when she turned the former Blue Ridge Inn on Victoria’s Douglas Street into Hotel Zed. As an enterprising hotelier who grew up in her family’s
hotel biz and eventually become its president and CEO, she asked herself: Where have all the fun toys gone in
hotels? Where’s the kickass colour, the eclectically cool, the ridiculous, the edgy, especially the unordinary??
Re-opened on May 1, 2014, the 62-room property has been completely transformed into Hotel Zed, offering guests a taste of retro – think rotary dial phones – with modern touches, like incredibly fast, free Wi-Fi.
