Victoria Hotel Package – Your Solution to the Malahat

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Winding Road sign represents the malahatOne day last winter I had to make some sales calls in Campbell River and other Northern Vancouver Island communities.  I hit the road out of Victoria at 6:00 am in order to get there at the start of the business day.

My goal to avoid traffic and make good time was immediately challenged by torrential rains. As I crept over the Malahat,  I felt my shoulders rise and my body tense as I struggled with the wind, rain and darkness.  (more…)

What do Powerlines, Big Dogs and Alpacas have in Common?

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

jaco powerlines logoOne of the best parts of my job as Sales Manager for Accent Inns on Vancouver Island is having the opportunity to visit many of our guests at their own work places. For most of these companies, the work place is not unusual – an office, a warehouse or a retail outlet. However, sometimes I come across work places that are just a wee bit different.

For instance, the first time I paid a visit to JACO Powerlines in Cobble Hill, I have to admit, I did have some expectations. I was expecting an operation similar to a B.C. Hydro operation with work areas, offices and a lot of vehicles. I was not prepared for what I found. In fact, I was pretty sure that my GPS had guided me to the wrong location. (more…)

Island Fisherman supports Accent Inns' "Fish for the Future"

As the excitement around Accent Inns new Fish for the Future program starts to mount, we are thrilled that one of the most qualified sport and recreational fishing experts would take interest in Accent Inns.  Larry E. Stefanyk, founder and publisher of Island Fisherman Magazine and the Producer of the Vancouver Island Outdoor Adventure Expo wrote a great piece in his last issue of Island Fisherman Magazine. Check out the article in the September issue in the Hook line and thinkers column (love the title larry).

Charity in Changing Times seminar was a breath of fresh air

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Participants listening to the panel members at the InnAid Charity in Changing times seminar, Burnaby

The Accent Inns‘ Inn Aid “Charity in Changing Times” seminar was a breath of fresh air, and a welcomed addition outside of my daily routine. I was able to connect with other professionals in the non-profit world and find out our common challenges and provide helpful solutions. Dawn Chubai’s personal approach on how to work with the media was insightful because a large percentage of my work entails gaining media coverage for The Land Conservancy of BC. Her passion for storytelling and representing non-profits in her community is completely sincere and genuine. (more…)
