There’s been lots of media attention lately for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge which is really cool, In fact I did that challenge myself (John – editor) We want to make sure though that a hardworking group of volunteers and cyclists from the ALS Cycle of Hope are also given accolades for their efforts to raise awareness, support and research dollars for ALS. These folks did far more than just dump ice water on their heads. Here we go! The much-anticipated 2013-2014 concert season is about to begin!

On Saturday, September 28th, the Kamloops Symphony, conductor Bruce Dunn, and piano soloist Maxim Bernard take to the stage at Sagebrush Theatre to thrill you with a full program exploring the depth, heart and soul of Russian Romantic music.

You will hear the haunting introduction to Mussorgsky’s unfinished opera, Khovantchina, Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical depiction of enchanting tales of treachery and love, cheherazade, and the passionate melancholy of the world’s most beloved piano concerto, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto #2. (more…)

Cycle of Hope for ALS Launches Today!

Cycle of Hope for ALS

This afternoon in Victoria B.C. the organizers of the Cycle of Hope kicked-off the event campaign with the goal of raising funds to support for families dealing with ALS.  Six riders from the Greater Victoria area are set to cycle 650 kilometers throughout B.C. to raise awareness and funds for families living with ALS. The cycling adventure will begin in Kamloops August 8th and finish in Hope August 18th. The riders from Victoria are inspired by a friend who recently lost her father to the disease. “Cycle of Hope has been my way of healing from the loss of my dad from this devastating disease. My goal is to raise awareness and much needed funds to find a cure for ALS”, says Cindy Lister the rider behind the event. (more…)
