With your help, the Hotels for Frontline Workers Fund in partnership with the United Way of Greater Victoria received over $100,000 in donations! This meant that we were able to offer over 1500 room nights to frontline workers at no cost to them. We can’t tell you how much our community’s support meant to us during this scary time. We’ve always known that British Columbians have the biggest hearts in the world, but you’ve proven it!
We also want to thank all frontline workers in our communities. The hard work you did kept British Columbians safe during the pandemic. It’s because of the work you did, and how well you did it, that BC has been able to start our Restart Plan. We’ll forever be grateful!
After hearing that many essential services workers were sleeping in their cars in between overtime shifts out of fear of bringing the virus home to their families, Accent Inns stepped up with an exclusive, all-time-low rate so that they could be safe and rested.
But what happened next was pretty amazing. After announcing this offer, our phone lines flooded with concerned community members offering to cover the cost of accommodation for Essential Services employees who needed to stay with us.
The generosity and kindness our community showed in this time is inspiring to all of us. In fact, you’ve inspired us to launch the new Hotels for Frontline Workers program in partnership with the United Way of Greater Victoria. If you want to show your love for Essential Services workers, you can donate here to cover the cost of their accommodation.
