ACCENT INNS PRESENTS REVERSE GARAGE SALES FOR LOCAL CHARITIES
Accent Inns presents Reverse Garage Sale for Local Charities
Missions, homeless shelters and transition houses throughout BC benefit from InnAid “spring cleaning” event
Victoria, BC (March 18, 2004); Accent Inns across the province are holding a ‘Reverse Garage Sale’ during the second annual InnAid event March 27 – 28, 2004. Trucks will be parked at Accent Inns locations in Kelowna, Kamloops, Victoria, Burnaby and Richmond and the public is invited to drop off donations of clothing, small household items and non-perishable food throughout the weekend to help fill every truck with urgently needed items. Each donor will be “paid” with a $15 coupon for their next stay at any Accent Inns property in British Columbia.
Residents are encouraged to call their local Accent Inn for more information.
“It was difficult to choose one charitable partner for InnAid,” says Chris Browne, General Manager of Accent Inn Vancouver Airport. “So many groups are doing important work in our communities.”
“We chose partners who didn’t have as strong a voice in their communities as other charitable organizations and who would benefit most from an increase in awareness”, added Karen Stevenson, General Manager of Accent Inn Kelowna, “and selecting a separate charity for each hotel allowed us to address the unique and urgent needs of each region.”
Accent Inns has partnered with the Women’s Transition House in Victoria, St. Leonard’s Youth & Family Services in Burnaby, the Union Gospel Mission in Vancouver, the New Life Mission in Kamloops and the Kelowna Gospel Mission in Kelowna. Charity partners were chosen by Accent Inns staff and a representative of each hotel works directly with the partner to focus on high priority needs.
“Poverty affects every town in the province”, says Terry Farmer, President and CEO of Accent Inns. “Our InnAid program is one way for a small BC business like ours to make a big difference -- by supporting local organizations in their struggles to ensure that every British Columbian has enough to eat and a bed to sleep in at night.”
Accent Inns owns and operates properties in Victoria, Richmond, Burnaby, Kelowna and Kamloops and supports a number of programs designed to positively impact communities at the grassroots level. For more information about Accent Inns and the InnAid program visit www.accentinns.com.
