DONORS BRAVE WEATHER TO SUPPORT SALVATION ARMY FOURTH ANNUAL ACCENT INN KAMLOOPS INNAID EVENT.

(Kamloops) April 3, 2006: Despite wintry weekend conditions Kamloops residents demonstrated their care for our community during the fourth annual Accent Inns InnAID event March 17 and 18 in support of The Salvation Army's Community Centre. Two vanloads of donations were collected at the Accent Inn Kamloops during the event and all of it will benefit Community Centre initiatives throughout Kamloops.

"We're very appreciative of the donations brought to us by Accent Inn's InnAID program as it's a boost for providing care in our community through the spring and summer," says Major Martin Ketteringham, Salvation Army. "It's also a way to remind people we are busy all year 'round and support is appreciated at all times of the year."

The majority of items donated are distributed directly to people in need in the community through various Community Centre initiatives. Some items will be delivered to the Thrift Store so that people with vouchers can shop for what they need the most.

"Even though the weather proved to be a barrier members of the community came through with over one and a half vans of donations to add to the half vanload donated by the hotel and our employees. The event was definitely a success. It's all about helping others in our community," says Jeanie Spooner, GM, Accent Inn Kamloops.

For Accent Inns, participating actively in the community has always been a way of doing business. This philosophy of community involvement was the inspiration for InnAID, an initiative that pairs each of the five Accent Inns properties in Burnaby, Richmond, Kelowna, Kamloops and Victoria with a mission, homeless shelter or transition house in their community. In 2006 three Accent Inns properties selected the Salvation Army as a charitable partner, focusing on specific initiatives and unique needs in each community. Accent Inns donated bedding, towels and furnishings and staff members gathered clothing, household items and other furnishings to contribute to their partner organization.

"As a family-run business, we're very conscious of our role in our community and we are determined to do more to help others improve their quality of life" says Terry Farmer, President and CEO of Accent Inns. "InnAID has grown in each of our communities over the past four years. The program builds on a platform of partnership and participation. By working together we can make a positive difference in the lives of many people in our communities."
