Wednesday, June 18th, 2014

Arthritis SocietyVictoria BC, June 18, 2014 –Spring 2014 Through connecting with hotel executives at several events, representatives from the Arthritis Society learned of the many not-for profit organizations that Accent Inns has managed to assist and decided to learn more about the local hotel chain.

The surprise came when after meeting with the chain’s Marketing and Communications Manager, John Espley, they found that Accent Inns also wanted to learn more about The Society. After several months of networking and a few meetings in both Victoria and Vancouver BC, it was agreed that Accent Inns would extend a helping hotel hand and support the Arthritis Society, BC & Yukon Division through the company’s InnAid program. Victoria Truck Light Parade – watch it, support it

Friday, December 6th, 2013

IMGP0322bBreaker breaker… looks like we got us a convoy

This Saturday night, December 7th, the annual IEOA (Equipment owners association) truck light parade will head through Victoria BC.  From 5:45 pm to 8:30 pm , main streets, side streets and even back streets will be lit up by some of the most colorful collection of vehicles ever seen. Cement trucks, dump trucks, slingers, crane trucks, fire trucks, buses and more will form into a convoy and pass before thousands of local families and visitors before ending up as an incredibly bright display at Western Speedway.  The truck owners and companies, their staff, family and friends all come together to pay for and create some incredible displays. These trucks take hours and hours of paid and volunteer time to complete. Every hour that one of these trucks is not “working” that’s money they are not earning for their owners. It’s a huge commitment by all the participants and we thank them so much. With the additional help of a few sponsors (Accent Inns is proud to be one), some great local media support and the generosity of our local municipalities and police departments this event finally comes together. But let’s remember why this started many years ago… to raise awareness and support for those in need. For many years now the Truck light parade has raised 10’s of thousands of pounds of food and $$ for Victoria’s local food banks. (more…)

Thursday, October 17th, 2013

Steve Dotto tech expert, social media camp speaker

Steve Dotto – Tech Expert & World Famous Speaker

Do you need a kick in your…..Social Media?         If you answered yes then you should attend one of the upcoming Social Media Bootcamps travelling around the province. Victoria BC is very lucky as every May brings not only incredible floral displays but the equally visually stimulating Social Media Camp. This has become the largest social media event in Canada! But wait, there’s more…..

The guys behind this great event (Chris & Paul – their country album will be released next summer) have also put together a number of one-day workshops in select cities during the fall.

Anyone and everyone who needs, likes or just has to use Social Media should try to make it to Social Media Camp in May. Of course the organizers realize that there are folks who just can’t attend the big conference because they must attend their mother in-laws’ birthday (been there). Well for all of you they have taken the show on the road and these one day bootcamps will give you access to some of the great knowledge and training that Social Media Camp offers. (more…)

Victoria Hotel Package – Your Solution to the Malahat

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Winding Road sign represents the malahatOne day last winter I had to make some sales calls in Campbell River and other Northern Vancouver Island communities.  I hit the road out of Victoria at 6:00 am in order to get there at the start of the business day.

My goal to avoid traffic and make good time was immediately challenged by torrential rains. As I crept over the Malahat,  I felt my shoulders rise and my body tense as I struggled with the wind, rain and darkness.  (more…)

Back to School – Travel Without The Kids

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013

back to schoolOK, the children are back in school. Parents are busy dealing with getting all the back to school items their children forgot to mention they needed, sorting out what it is they want in their lunches, counselling their off-spring as they complain about who’s sitting next to them in class or on the  bus and  realizing that they have to re-learn everything they thought they would never need to know,  just so  they can help their kids with homework!

Ah, but you are grandparents or perhaps folks that decided the above path wasn’t for you. Of course you love the little “rug-rats” but whichever category you fall into, this is a very special time for you too.  You’ve had your fun with the grand-kids all summer and now it’s time to focus on you. You’ve dealt with all the lines for the really cool things to see & do but now there are no children to be seen and access to attractions is suddenly easy (and quiet).  This is your time to travel. (more…)
