October 2, 2015: New Westminster, B.C. – The Family Support Institute Board of Directors, over the last several years, has been contemplating how FSI can be better represented as having a provincial scope. Their official name was the West Coast Family Support Institute Society which implied that they only served families living on the Westcoast of BC, when they actively serve people ALL ACROSS our province. At FSI’s AGM on June 12, 2015, the membership unanimously voted to approve a special resolution to approve a society name change from the “West Coast Family Support Institute Society” to the “Family Support Institute of BC Society” (FSIBC). They feel this name change will help people to see that they are a provincial society in all aspects of their work. (more…)

The 2013 BC Summer Institute is led by the Family Support Institute in beautiful Vancouver. This event is designed to provide a robust learning environment that will facilitate strategic approaches to inclusion and belonging for all students in BC’s elementary and secondary schools.
On the Saturday (of the long weekend) morning as the sun beamed down on the Minoru Oval in Richmond Vancouver, eight U16 girls’ teams and eight U16 boys’ teams arrived to stake their claim for their respective titles. The invite-only tournament consisted of players from the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL), who were eager to show-case their pre-season form. “On behalf of the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League and its participating clubs, I would like to thank adidas Canada for once again offering us the opportunity to be exclusive participants in the adidas Champions Cup,” said David Haber, president of the BCSPL. “This event provides our U-16 teams with an ideal competitive environment as they prepare for the fall season of the league, which starts on the weekend of September 15th and 16th.” (more…)

Although I’ve lived in Victoria all my life, I’ve never had occasion to fly with Harbour Air to Vancouver before. Well I finally made the trip from Victoria’s beautiful inner harbour over to Vancouver’s, landing right in front of Canada Place and Stanley park.
1. The take-off and landing themselves are incredible. These planes can shoot up into the sky at a moment’s notice or land on a tiny piece of water, making them ideal for flights into harbours, inlets and small lakes. (more…)
