Chris Knight at Motorcycle friendly hotel chain, Accent Inns

July 10, 2013, Victoria, BC – Accent Inns has launched a chain-wide Motorcycle Friendly hotel program catering to motorcyclists , with improved overnight storage, bike wash stations, secure lock ups and easy to access laundry facilities. Though the B.C. based hotel chain has always been popular with cyclists and the “Bike Love” program, the addition of the “Bike Love…All Revved Up” program was suggested by Victoria general manager (and avid rider) Chris Knight as a means to improve motorcyclist holidays throughout British Columbia. 2013 Varity Club Telethon

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

Accent Inns team under variety bannerAll of us at  Accent Inns strongly believe in the importance of giving back to the community. This was never more apparent than the recent donation made to the Variety Club Telethon by team members from the Accent Inn Vancouver Airport hotel.

Throughout the year of 2012 the Vancouver Airport team held numerous fundraising events to raise money for the very worthwhile organization, Variety Club – The Children’s Charity.

There were bake sales, jelly bean guess contests, and BBQ’s.  It was amazing and truly touching to see everyone’s enthusiasm in making each event a great success.

One of the favorite memories was during our first BBQ when Donna Price, Regional Sales Manager for Sports and Groups, put hot dogs on the grill only to later notice that there were words on the hot dogs as they were individually wrapped in plastic.

Together the team managed to raise $1000.

Zareena Dean and Sheena Brooks had the privilege of presenting the cheque to Variety – The Children’s Charity on the Show of Hearts Telethon on February 17th 2013. We are so proud!!

In 2011 when Cirque du Soleil, Michael Jackson “The Immortal Tour” came to Vancouver I knew I had to attend.

After purchasing tickets, I called the Accent Inn, Richmond BC to book my overnight hotel and complimentary parking.  It worked out very well!  We checked into the hotel and then took the complimentary shuttle to the River Rock casino.  We then took the sky train and were in downtown Vancouver in 25 minutes.  The show was incredible and our accommodations worked out great. The following is a reprint from the Whitecaps FC blog and we thank them:

On the Saturday (of the long weekend) morning as the sun beamed down on the Minoru Oval in Richmond Vancouver, eight U16 girls’ teams and eight U16 boys’ teams arrived to stake their claim for their respective titles. The invite-only tournament consisted of players from the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL), who were eager to show-case their pre-season form. “On behalf of the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League and its participating clubs, I would like to thank adidas Canada for once again offering us the opportunity to be exclusive participants in the adidas Champions Cup,” said David Haber, president of the BCSPL. “This event provides our U-16 teams with an ideal competitive environment as they prepare for the fall season of the league, which starts on the weekend of September 15th and 16th.” (more…)

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

IMG_0474Accent Inns has had the distinct honour of working with the Vancouver Canadians Baseball club for several years now. Now that summer is here (no comments on the weather please) so are the “boys of summer”. Sure, sure it’s often heard that Canadians are hockey people but that’s only true part of the year. It’s time to get out of the arena and enjoy some incredible summertime entertainment. The Vancouver Canadians play at the Scotiabank field at Nat Bailey stadium. The stadium has been around since 1951 and hosting some of the best sports entertainment anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. The Vancouver Canadians are a minor league baseball team located in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The C’s have previously affiliated with the Oakland Athletics between 2000-2010 but have become the Northwest League affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. They are the only Canadian team in the “affiliated” minor leagues.(wikipedia) (more…)

Ever been to a West Coast Snowball Fight?

Snowball fight in the West

Westcoast snowball fight, not what you think!

What does a snowball fight look like in Victoria or Vancouver? Well, you get a small group of people, dress the men in funny pants, give them each a bag full of sticks with bent ends and some small dimpled white balls and then release them onto a Golf Course. That’s right! On the West Coast we consider the golf ball a reasonable replacement for a snow ball.

And while we do like to believe that it never snows here, the fact is that it rarely snows and our Golf Courses are open year round. In fact winter golf is often less expensive and less crowded. (more…)
