New Year, New Outlook

JanuaryCan you believe we’re already more than half way through January! I know folks that went ahead and made New Year’s resolutions are already cringing at the ones they’ve broken or have to “look forward” to. If making resolutions is your thing then all the power to you but I’m taking a different approach this year.

Although you don’t have to use January 1 as a “start date” for simplicities sake I’m going with it. I’m taking the approach that the past is the past and the future is open, flexible, untamed. The future is what we decide to make it (consciously or not). I’ve taken the approach of not looking back at all my mistakes, all the decisions I’ve made, all the things I may not have achieved  and then to make resolutions intended to change my behaviour(s) and to correct my discretions or avoidance in the past. Looking at the future I’ve started saying to myself (yes I talk to myself…lol) what is it that I want to do this year? Where do I want to go? Who do I want to see? (more…)

Have You Made You’re New Year’s Resolution Yet?

As 2012 draws to a close, many of us are starting to make plans for 2013.  The start of a New Year is a great time to set new goals – it’s the reason we make New Year’s Resolutions.

Lose weight: This one is probably the most common resolution.  The holiday season is the hardest time because of the non-stop eating and family celebrations, most of us gain a few extra pounds and as a result we decide to lose those extra pounds in the new  year. So what do we do, we set up a diet plan to eat more healthy by adding more fruits and vegetables, drink more water and of course – exercise.

Exercise: The second most popular new year resolution, whether you decide to join a gym or just to get out there and start walking or jogging every day, this is a great way to kick start a healthier schedule. (more…)
