October 2, 2015: New Westminster, B.C. – The Family Support Institute Board of Directors, over the last several years, has been contemplating how FSI can be better represented as having a provincial scope. Their official name was the West Coast Family Support Institute Society which implied that they only served families living on the Westcoast of BC, when they actively serve people ALL ACROSS our province. At FSI’s AGM on June 12, 2015, the membership unanimously voted to approve a special resolution to approve a society name change from the “West Coast Family Support Institute Society” to the “Family Support Institute of BC Society” (FSIBC). They feel this name change will help people to see that they are a provincial society in all aspects of their work. (more…)

OK, the children are back in school. Parents are busy dealing with getting all the back to school items their children forgot to mention they needed, sorting out what it is they want in their lunches, counselling their off-spring as they complain about who’s sitting next to them in class or on the bus and realizing that they have to re-learn everything they thought they would never need to know, just so they can help their kids with homework!
Ah, but you are grandparents or perhaps folks that decided the above path wasn’t for you. Avoiding your mother in-law or that cousin that just won’t leave you alone… It evens hosts a lake “monster” Ogopogo. No really it does! I tried to get it to eat my cousin when I was little but alas, it must be a vegetarian. (more…)

July 10, 2013, Victoria, BC – Accent Inns has launched a chain-wide Motorcycle Friendly hotel program catering to motorcyclists , with improved overnight storage, bike wash stations, secure lock ups and easy to access laundry facilities. Though the B.C. based hotel chain has always been popular with cyclists and the “Bike Love” program, the addition of the “Bike Love…All Revved Up” program was suggested by Victoria general manager (and avid rider) Chris Knight as a means to improve motorcyclist holidays throughout British Columbia. Although most of us have causes that we support both financially and emotionally, there are very few of us that would jump on a bicycle and pedal across Canada to spread the word about something we truly believe in. Jeremy Bally is one of those people. On April 27, Jeremy left Mile 0 in Victoria BC and began his life as a Travelling Minstrel as he mounted his bicycle and headed east. The story that he is telling is that of the people of West Papua New Guinea, previously known as Irian Jaya. (more…)
