Social Media Bootcamps 2013

Thursday, October 17th, 2013

Steve Dotto tech expert, social media camp speaker

Steve Dotto – Tech Expert & World Famous Speaker

Do you need a kick in your…..Social Media?         If you answered yes then you should attend one of the upcoming Social Media Bootcamps travelling around the province. Victoria BC is very lucky as every May brings not only incredible floral displays but the equally visually stimulating Social Media Camp. This has become the largest social media event in Canada! But wait, there’s more…..

The guys behind this great event (Chris & Paul – their country album will be released next summer) have also put together a number of one-day workshops in select cities during the fall.

Anyone and everyone who needs, likes or just has to use Social Media should try to make it to Social Media Camp in May. Of course the organizers realize that there are folks who just can’t attend the big conference because they must attend their mother in-laws’ birthday (been there). Well for all of you they have taken the show on the road and these one day bootcamps will give you access to some of the great knowledge and training that Social Media Camp offers. (more…)

Here we go! The much-anticipated 2013-2014 concert season is about to begin!

On Saturday, September 28th, the Kamloops Symphony, conductor Bruce Dunn, and piano soloist Maxim Bernard take to the stage at Sagebrush Theatre to thrill you with a full program exploring the depth, heart and soul of Russian Romantic music.

You will hear the haunting introduction to Mussorgsky’s unfinished opera, Khovantchina, Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical depiction of enchanting tales of treachery and love, cheherazade, and the passionate melancholy of the world’s most beloved piano concerto, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto #2. (more…)

Back to School – Travel Without The Kids

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013

back to schoolOK, the children are back in school. Parents are busy dealing with getting all the back to school items their children forgot to mention they needed, sorting out what it is they want in their lunches, counselling their off-spring as they complain about who’s sitting next to them in class or on the  bus and  realizing that they have to re-learn everything they thought they would never need to know,  just so  they can help their kids with homework!

Ah, but you are grandparents or perhaps folks that decided the above path wasn’t for you. Of course you love the little “rug-rats” but whichever category you fall into, this is a very special time for you too.  You’ve had your fun with the grand-kids all summer and now it’s time to focus on you. You’ve dealt with all the lines for the really cool things to see & do but now there are no children to be seen and access to attractions is suddenly easy (and quiet).  This is your time to travel. Get Your Blood Pumping in Kamloops

Thursday, July 25th, 2013

BC has the best golf coursesOk sure Kamloops has lots of “refined” and “relaxing” things to do while you visit. There’s the great music festivals,  the symphony, taking in a play, fly-fishing, tubing down the river, sunning on the beaches and even incredible golf courses. Although if you golf with me I wouldn’t call that relaxing (fore……).  These are all wonderful things indeed,  but what if you feel the need for a little excitement or adrenaline? Well of course you could visit one of the local ranches and try and ride an unbroken stallion (highly unlikely) but Kamloops offers several more practical options. (more…)

For Immediate release

Taking a good look into the mirror

Travelling in British Columbia this summer never looked so good

August  07, 2012, Victoria, BC – Accent Inns’ easy-to-spot, iconic blue roofs haven’t changed, but just about everything beneath them has– from the renovated exteriors, updates to the interiors of all five properties —  and a very cool change in the  brand  image and story.

Now sporting refreshed exteriors in shades of, taupe, grey and green, entrance pillars refinished in natural stone and glass balconies to open up the views, Accent Inns has a warmer, more welcoming West Coast feel and is working harder than ever to live their new “stay local, stay real” tag line.

“As we finished our renovations late last year, we felt it was time to check in and see what our potential customers thought of Accent Inns,” says Mandy Farmer, president of Accent Inns. “The focus group results were shocking. Going by our name and look, many people thought we were an American owned run of the mill chain. For a company that is owned and operated by a BC family, we were heart broken. It was time to become better at telling and living our brand story.” (more…)

Terry Farmer founder of the BC hotel chain excited over Accent Inns awesome success

Wow, what a year 2011 was for the Accent Inn team.

The year began with us launching the first ever hotel rewards  for Pets, the “Pet Fee Free” card back in March. The response had people  talking about it online from all over North America (not just Canada). Next, one of our Vancouver Airport  team members, Zully, won a Tourism Vancouver award for his service. We went from the excitement for Zully  to  our founder, Terry Farmer, being awarded Tourism Victoria`s first ever Lifetime Member award, which really put a spring in our steps. (more…)
