This past Father’s Day weekend my daughter and I travelled to Vancouver to hang out together and play tourist. We chose the Accent Inn Burnaby as our home base which worked really well for all the places we had planned to visit. We arrived later on the Friday night and took advantage of the Ricky’s country restaurant offering takeout. We just hung out together in the room, eating dinner will watching a movie on TV. (more…)

When I was a kid growing up on the East Coast one of my favourite winter activities was grabbing my brother’s wooden snowshoes, rounding up my uncle’s Springer Spaniel (Blueboy), and heading out into the woods. “Cousin Blue” and I spent many hours cutting new trails and following the ones we had previously created. Of course there is the famous Grouse Mountain. The lights at the top can be seen not only from all over Vancouver but even from Vancouver Island! Grouse offer spectacular views and if you haven’t done it, the Skyride (tram) is really cool. From our Burnaby hotel you only have to drive approx. 20 – 30 minutes to get to the tram. (more…)
