Jurassic World vs Star Wars: Episode VII: Who Has More To Lose?

Saturday, February 15th, 2014

star warsAlthough they will not be going head to head in the summer of 2015, both “Jurassic World”, and “Star Wars: Episode VII” have huge expectations and pressures upon them.  “Jurassic World” is attempting to jump start the lucrative franchise for Universal and since “Jurassic Park 3” came out in 2001, there is some question if the audience for the franchise has faded. Director Colin Treverrow is an odd choice in my opinion has he has only done one film to date, “Safety Not Guaranteed”, and has not worked with a big budget, advanced FX, 3D, and a studio and fandom watching his every move. After Aliens: Colonial Marines, Can Gamers Trust Sega With Alien: Isolation

Saturday, February 8th, 2014

Alien_Isolation-219x166Gamers would be hard pressed to find many reviewers or players who were happy with Aliens: Colonial Marines which came in with lofty expectations and crashed harder than the escape pod on Fury 161 in “Alien 3”.  One could point to the outsourcing, sub-par graphics and gameplay, plot holes, glitches, and numerous other issues as to why the game failed but I think that has been very well covered to date. With the failure of Aliens: Colonial Marines in mind and with Alien: Isolation on the way, I have found myself asking if it is possible to save the franchise as a viable gaming option. (more…)

2014 Consumer Electronics Show

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

11972472643_8873061469_mC.E.S. in Las Vegas was the biggest and best showcase yet for all things technology. This was our third year covering the show and it continues to grow each year as it has sprawled beyond the massive convention center to also include convention space at the Venetian and several hotel suites across town where companies base themselves for private meetings.

Unlike most other trade shows and conventions, C.E.S. is home to everything from computer and console hardware and accessories to more innovative products which include medical products, audio technology, television, home appliances, vehicle tech, and much more. Simply put if it runs on batteries or electricity, you can bet there is a place for it at the show. (more…)

PlayStation 4 – Infamous

Saturday, January 25th, 2014

inFAMOUS_Second_Son-Delsin_Rocket_1377021656Recently I got the chance to have some up close and hands on time with the pending PlayStation 4 exclusive Infamous: Second Son. During our coverage of the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sony had a massive exhibit space that featured everything from UHD Televisions to wearable tech and of course the PlayStation 4. The game is the third in the Infamous series and follows a new character named Deslin who is a graffiti artist in Seattle.

The city is under the crushing control of the Department of Unified Protection, or DUP and when his powers become active, Deslin must battle the DUP to restore freedom to the city. (more…)

Worst of 2013 in Film and Game

Saturday, January 18th, 2014

Justin, Joseph, and I put our list of the worst of 2013 in film and game. Drop us a line to let us know what you think and what we missed.

Joseph’s List

Man-Of-Steel-Henry-Cavill-Kal_El-3Man of Steel,
Despite it being a “fantasy” movie, it was just way over the top for me and I could not forgive the way it completely spit in the face of Superman lore.

The Lone Ranger
Johnny Depp reportedly made this film a requirement in order to secure his services for future appearances as Captain Jack Sparrow. You have to wonder what part of a big budget film based on characters that have not been relevant for over 60 years was a good idea for today’s audiences. (more…)

Gaming Reviews in 2013.

Saturday, January 11th, 2014

Company of Heroes 2While most publications and site like us have posted their best of and worst of for movies and games, I decided to wrap up 2013 with something a bit different. I will be looking at my biggest disappointments in gaming during 2013.

Inclusion on the list does not mean that I have classified the games as bad, but rather ones that disappointed me but not living up to the expectations of the game or it’s potential. (more…)

Star Wars

Saturday, December 21st, 2013

star warsIf you were to ask anyone who knows me, they would likely confirm that I am a huge Star Wars fan. I would even go as far to say that the film series got me started with writing and journalism at a very early age as I can remember typing up Star Wars inspired stories back in the 80s as well as it and the Prequels being the focal points of many of my speaking engagements and articles in my early days of the site. I am beyond thrilled at the pending sequels and have plenty of interest in the new animated, video game, and stand alone film offerings that are pending. (more…)

Battlefield 4 video game by EA

In a reported statement to Polygon by an EA spokesperson, the company appears to confirm that EA has ordered Dice to stop all work on the new Star Wars game and Mirrors Edge games in order to fix the numerous issues facing Battlefield 4.

The series is no stranger to bugs as Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 3 were almost unplayable at launch on PC until a plethora of patches were released to help resolve the issues. (more…)
