FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Accent Inns Russ Hay’s Cycling Team presented by Scotiabank has announced its Team roster and new partnerships for the 2015 Racing Season. “Every year, we seem to raise the bar of excellence,” explains Jon Watkin, General Manager, “In 2014 we won 50 races had over 100 top ten finishes. We took the BC Provincial Road and Criterium titles, and had two top ten placements in the National TT Champs in Quebec. We also had two of our guys selected to race in the 2014 Tour of Alberta. The icing on the cake was having Cody Canning win the Grand Prix Cycliste Pro Sprint Challenge against some world tour guys. In 2015, we plan to continue to produce breakthrough results, but with a stronger focus on major criterium and circuit races.” (more…)

Last weekend Cycling BC launched its premier Road Race Series. The series kicked off with the Devo Classic Stage Race in Langley, BC. A strong field of riders came to race the unique and challenging courses provided by the Escape Velocity Cycling Club.
The BC Premier Road series is a Cycling BC initiative to bring top tier road racing back to BC. The series is made up of 5 events where points will be tracked for series standings. The series is inclusive for both men and women, with equal prizing and categories. (more…)

Two relatively unknown cyclists from Victoria BC surprised the entire Canadian cycling world today by besting some of Canada’s top Elite and Professional Cyclists at the 2013 Canadian National Cycling Championships in St. Georges, Quebec.
In the women’s Elite Race, 23 year old Tripleshot Racing Club rider, Anika Todd, missed taking the Gold Medal in the Women’s Elite Time Trial by only 20 seconds in her first ever National Cycling Championships. The Uvic Grad covered the 27 km distance in 40 min 40 sec, which was not fast enough to beat Joelle Numainville of the Optum p/b Kelly Benefits Pro Cycling Team. However, she was able to hold off Professional Cyclist and Olympic Bronze medalist, Jasmine Glaesser by 19 seconds to take the silver medal. Anika credits the support of the Tripleshot Cycling Club and coach Peter Lawless for her impressive performance. (more…)
