Camosun Chargers Win PACWEST Title

Camosun Chargers Golf Team win the PACWEST Title

The Camosun College Chargers struck gold over the long weekend, winning the 2011 PACWEST Golf title and earning a trip to the PING CCAA National Golf Championships next week in Roseneath, Prince Edward Island.

The fourth and deciding tournament of the PACWEST series was hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades golf them and held at their home course at the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club, October 8-9.


Going into the weekend in second spot with a team total of 1766 after three tournaments, the Chargers were only one stroke off the lead which was held by Capilano University. (more…)

Under the guidance of Coach John Randle, the Camosun College Chargers, who went to the nationals last season, had a great finish at the first tournament of 2011. Coach Randle obviously takes his experience as a Canadian PGA professional and owner of the  Randle Golf school in Victoria, and applies it to the Chargers program.  It’s very apparent that blessed with some very talented players and one of the best coaches anywhere, we can expect the Chargers to be well represented moving forward.

A great example of this is Jared Hundza, Camosun recruit,  claiming the low total at PacWest Tournament #1. Despite his status as a first-year student-athlete at Camosun, the UBC transfer student quickly claimed the top spot on the Leaderboard as the newly-named PACWEST hit the links to begin the 2011 golf season. Camosun Chargers begin second half of the season

The Camosun College Chargers men’s volleyball team has shaken off the holiday rust and is set to start the second half of the BCCAA season with an Island Rivalry match up against the VIU Mariners this Friday evening in Nanaimo. The second and final round of matches in the 2010-11 Island Rivalry volleyball series is sure to be a hot contest and promises to deliver a great evening of volleyball action.

To augment the team’s training and development, the Chargers traveled to Kelowna over the holiday break to take part in a three-day training workshop which included a number of top teams from BC and Alberta.  “We wanted to accomplish three things with our trip to UBCO over the holidays,” explained Coach Parkinson. “We wanted to get the rust off, to continue to evolve our style of play and learn about ourselves in different situations, and to have fun.  In my mind we accomplished all three.” (more…)

Chargers defend Championship title

It was a banner evening for the Camosun College Chargers who won gold and defended their BCCAA Provincial Championship title – on home court in front of a ecstatic home crowd!

Taking home silver tonight are the UFV Cascades – the team that Camosun defeated last year to earn the 2009 Championship which was hosted at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford.

As the BCCAA Provincial Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Championships draw near, the Camosun College Chargers are proud to announce that four of their student-athletes have been named 2009-10 League All-Stars.

The group of home town heroes on the men’s side include third-year right side Aleks Saddlemyer (Parklands), second-year libero Josh Coutts (Claremont) and first-year middle Eric Reidstra (Pacific Christian).

For the first time ever, the Camosun College Chargers will host the BCCAA Men’s and Women’s Provincial Volleyball Championships scheduled for February 25-27, 2010.

Upon completing their 16th season of competition in the British Columbia Colleges’ Athletic Association and their second year of residence in the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence, the Chargers are excited about the opportunity of hosting the Championships and are looking forward to putting on a top-notch show.
