I was looking the other day at what cruises were offered out of Vancouver and was surprised to learn there’s a lot. My wife and I took an Alaskan cruise a few years ago but I had no idea of the size of the cruise industry here. In 2014, 29 cruise ships called into Port Metro Vancouver 243 times carrying more than 812,000 passengers. This year they are looking at a similar, if not better season. (more…)

Now that we are in February, often thoughts will go to Valentine’s Day. For the next few weeks young couples start getting more “smoochy” than usual. Wives begin saying to themselves, “will he remember this year?” And of course husbands, well husbands just don’t think anything yet. As fun and cute as this all may sound, here in B.C. we now have something else, perhaps more important to think of in February. Family Day. (more…)

TripAdvisor Reviewers Have Done it Again!
It was pretty special when Accent Inns
Actually their customers have done it with submitting all those wonderful reviews. The little home grown, local BC hotel chain has received a 2012 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for every one of their 5 locations.
Why did they do so well for reviews? “It is really the awesome team behind the scenes that works so hard to give every customer a comfortable, fun and relaxing stay. We’ve recently gone through a re-branding process for Accent Inns and when we were taking that hard look at just what makes us special, different, we came to the conclusion that it’s our people. The fun new style you can see online and in our properties is a testament to the wonderfully relaxed and fun way our team members go about their jobs and interact with our guests.” Mandy Farmer, President & CEO Accent Inns. Bike to Work Week is coming up and I often get asked the question, “How do you bike to work when you’re a business person? I don’t have a shower at work and I have appointments that I need my car for. I just can’t do it”.
Of course you can! First off, why on earth do you need your car for appointments? I ride my bike to meetings and I swear I get there at least 10 minutes before everyone else because I didn’t have to find parking, fiddle with the meter, and then hoof it to the appointment. The door to door advantage of a bike is huge, not to mention bypassing all the traffic. (more…)

Recently Accent Inns was pleased to be a sponsor and host hotel for the local Victoria WordCamp. This meant that several of the speakers (all excellent BTW) had a chance to stay at our local Accent Inn Victoria BC hotel. After all was said and done Hummingbird604 (a.k.a. Raul Pacheco) wrote a lovely review of his stay at the Accent Inn Victoria.
Below is a full reprint of the post, including the photo’s (no edits or substitutions) and thanks to Raul for giving permission to do so. (more…)
