For over 20 years, November has been recognized as National Adoption Awareness Month. The goal of this important month is to help raise awareness about the over 1,000 children and youth in BC who are registered and waiting to be adopted. Each year, a Provincial Proclamation kicks off activities and celebrations that promote positive perceptions, draw attention to important adoption related issues, and celebrate families formed by adoption. National Adoption Awareness Month is a time for adoptees, adoptive parents, advocates, and professionals to celebrate adoption and remind others that hundreds of children are still waiting for a permanent, loving family to call their own. BURNABY – July 9, 2013 – The Adoptive Families Association of BC (AFABC) is pleased to present Accent Inns with the 2013 Spirit Award – Corporate.
This award recognizes the support Accent Inns has provided to adoptive families in British Columbia. Accent Inns regularly donates room vouchers to AFABC, which allows parents to travel out of town to meet and visit with the newest members of their families. The vouchers also help out-of-town families attend AFABC training sessions and workshops in Burnaby. (more…)
