The Butchart Gardens helps lead Victoria BC's flower count
21 Billion Blooms in 2010
Victoria, B.C. – The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, Butchart Gardens and Tourism Victoria have once again teamed up to record the scene at one of the World’s best Bloomin’ cities. The total number of blooms counted in the Annual Greater Victoria Flower Count was 21,691,666,716. Oak Bay was the leading Municipality with over 14 billion blooms followed by Victoria with almost 5 billion blooms. The winning class was Ms L Westby’s class from Willows Elementary and they win a trip to Butchart Gardens.

One of the highlights of my year so far has been spending the morning at the Victoria Accent Inns’ Charity in Changing Time event with a room full of not-for-profit organizations wanting to learn more about how to effectively tell their stories through traditional and on-line media, how to increase their on-line presence, and how to better communicate with their volunteers. Someone asked me the other day, “What is the biggest thing the Olympics have done for you?” Well, aside from the obvious month of phenomenal business we experienced in our Richmond and Burnaby locations, the Olympics have been surprisingly great for helping us define our values. more about values

When I visited the Travel medical Clinic they forgot to do one important test – a psychiatric assessment. Nobody in their right mind would voluntarily spend 16 days walking uphill wearing hiking boots, multiple layers of clothing and a backpack until they get to a place that’s really cold and there is very little oxygen! They should have an immunization to stop people doing such things.

Chargers defend Championship title
It was a banner evening for the Camosun College Chargers who won gold and defended their BCCAA Provincial Championship title – on home court in front of a ecstatic home crowd!
Taking home silver tonight are the UFV Cascades – the team that Camosun defeated last year to earn the 2009 Championship which was hosted at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford.
