The Artist – movie review

The Artist

Going to the Movies

A Movie Review

Being used to movies in high-definition with surround sound on a wide-screen, I wondered in advance if it would be possible to follow and enjoy a movie without sound or colour.

I saw the movie in a quaint old-fashioned theatre in Sidney BC, with a small screen and a poor viewing angle. The tall man in front of me blocked part of the screen and I did not think I would be able to follow the plot that was so dependent upon facial expressions and the occasional words spread across the screen. ...read more on the artist

Pardon My Striptease and Lilee-Jean

Friday, March 16th, 2012

Lilee-jean & Dad

This is a story that came to our attention. We just have to share it and  to make sure the cause is kept top-of-mind.

Lilee-Jean is a little girl diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain cancer and has been undergoing surgery and chemo-therapy at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

Her loving family is there for support but this child is lucky to have one very special man in her life – her father. Andrew Putt is a singer with the band Pardon My Striptease. Not only is he a talented musician (see the video) but he and his band have help raise tens of thousands of dollars for BC Children’s hospital. They even managed to get support from the well-known band NickelBack! Accent Inns has worked with BC Children’s for many years and we have seen so many families get incredible help and support from this very special hospital. We all owe the Band a huge thank you for their efforts and let’s wish Lilee-Jean and the other children all the strength in the world to overcome their illness.

Sidney Mus Lego ExhibitVictoria BC along with several other jurisdictions puts on a great event every year called “Be A Tourist in your own Hometown”.

Here in British Columbia we are blessed with the most wonderful surroundings which comes with the fact that we can expect many visitors such as relatives, friends and tourists. Have you ever been challenged with thinking where do I take my cousins or where should I tell my Mother In-Law to go? (don’t answer that). Have you been walking somewhere in our city and a visitor has come up to you and asked for directions? Are you a front line employee who gets asked for suggestions of things to see? OK, time to do your research and visit some of those great attractions that you haven’t been to in years or perhaps you’ve never been before. The cool thing about this homework is that it’s actually fun! ...read more about being a tourist

Terry Farmer likes a nice wine!

Well Leslie & I just completed our annual wine tasting (and purchases) and it was just as enjoyable as in previous years.
