Ribfest, A Preview Worth Drooling Over

Ribfest & Car show coming to Esquimalt

Victoria BC, September 9, 2013 – Have you heard about those wildly popular food trucks that use social media to announce when and where they’ll be each day and are then greeted by huge line-ups of hungry customers? Are you’re already salivating at the thought of Ribfest coming to Esquimalt’s Bullen Park for 3 days September 13 -15? Then you’re in luck. Monday September 9th, for only a few hours (11:30am -1:30pm), one of the very cool Ribfest food trucks will set-up in the parking lot of the Accent Inn Victoria (Blanshard & Cloverdale) for a special advance tasting.

Forget the baloney or tuna fish sandwich, “toss” the salad aside because on Monday you can put that lunch money towards some mouth-watering ribs! Folks from all over the CRD are invited to head over to the Accent Inn for the opportunity to enjoy a preview of some of the very same ribs that will be available at the Ribfest.

Why do this? September 13-15 a group of dedicated volunteers with the support of the Township of Esquimalt, have put together an awesome combination of ribs, rods and entertainment. Visitors to Esquimalt will have the opportunity to walk around Ribfest where an incredible selection of ribs will be available at the several “rib-trucks”. On the Saturday, after they have treated their taste buds, spectators will be overwhelmed visually by the view of some of the coolest, fastest, sleekest and most exquisite hot-rods and motorcycles anywhere in the northwest. What makes the event(s) even more special is that they are raising money for the local community and high school. The Esquimalt Celebration of Lights Car Show is raising money to support the community’s celebration of lights happening in December. Ribfest is raising funds for the Esquimalt High School Rugby Academy – starting in 2014.

“On Monday, not only will Victorians have a chance to taste what the rest of nation has been enjoying, but the more people that become aware of the coming weekend’s events the better. After all, it’s really about supporting the community both with fun festivals likes this but also with the legacy of the funds they raise provide.” John Espley, Accent Inns

About Ribfests:

A Southern BBQ tradition, Ribfests are now embraced by communities across Canada as a wildly popular way to sponsor charity events.  Professional barbecuers (Ribbers) cook and serve up ribs and chicken that have been slow smoked and finished over open flame.  The size and scale of these Ribfests have to be seen to be believed – 35ft long rigs, signs as high as 25ft – and chefs who compete to win bragging rights for trophies such as “Best Ribs” “Best sauce” and “People’s Choice”.

Esquimalt Ribfest offers:

September 13, 14, 15, 2013. World class ribs, live blues and rock bands all weekend, a large craft brewery garden, a mechanical bull, celebrity judging, several vendors, a large KidZone, and the world’s first Rugby Combine presented by Rugby Canada with several National Team players in attendance. All proceeds to local charities.  Capping off the weekend’s festivities will be an open air Concert featuring Bad Company, sponsored by the Township of Esquimalt.  After 5pm, concert ticket holders can enjoy fabulous rib dinners and beer garden service. What a great night out!

About Accent Inns

Accent Inns likes to describe themselves as Not your typical, stuffy hotel chain. Yes, they have modern, clean rooms, but they will also tell you where to go (in a good way). They will give you the down low on where the locals hang – the hot spots for shopping, dining and hitting the town. Oh yeah, they also like to mention that they are a pint-sized, boastfully BC hotel chain with five locations; Victoria, Burnaby, Vancouver Airport (Richmond), Kelowna & Kamloops and each of them is a 2013 winner of the TripAdvisor “Certificate of Excellence.” Stay local. Stay real.
