Great skiing on BC's South West Coast

Coming to Vancouver and the west coast or live in the area and love to Ski, Snowboard or snowshoe?

There are so many options available.

Mt Seymour is a great local mountain offering lots of variety.  Stay at the Accent Inn Burnaby hotel which is only approx. a 40 minute drive away.  Mt Seymour also runs a shuttle up the mountain from Lonsdale Quay. Click here for details.

Of course there is the famous Grouse Mountain. The lights at the top can be seen not only from all over Vancouver but even from Vancouver Island! Grouse offer spectacular views and if you haven’t done it, the Skyride (tram)  is really cool. From our Burnaby hotel you only have to drive approx. 20 – 30 minutes to get to the tram.

If you want to head a little further back you can ski at Cypress Mountain. Imagine yourself skiing where Canada got our first Olympic gold medal on home soil.

Sometimes the drive itself can be incredibly beautiful

Cypress offers a great opportunity for cross country and back country adventuring as well.  Driving to Cypress Mountain from the Accent Inn Burnaby hotel or the Accent Inn Vancouver Airport hotel will take you approx. 60-80 minutes. They also have a winter shuttle service that picks up in Richmond or North Vancouver. Click here for details.

Heading to the Island then you gotta check out Mt Washington Alpine Resort. Boasting some of the best if not the best snow levels in all of North America this awesome location offers skiers, snowboarders and back country enthusiasts everything they could want.  Ski where Olympic teams train.  If you decide to visit during your holidays in Victoria it’s approx. a 3 ½ hour drive from the Accent Inn Victoria hotel.  The scenery on the trip makes it a most enjoyable driving experience.  If you’re a snowshoer like me, Mt Washington offers easy access to either groomed snowshoe trails or back country adventures second to none. Friday thru Sunday Ski bus service is also available from Victoria courtesy of Wilson Transportation & Smith bus. Click here for details.

snowshoeing tracks

not a skier, snowshoeing can be a great option

If you happen to live here on B.C.’s southern west coast like we do then perhaps a trip south down near our neighbours in Seattle. Several mountains are available just south of the Border such as Mt Baker and Stevens Pass.  Our good friend Gareth from Skewed n Reviewed recently wrote about his trip to Stevens Pass Ski resort.
